First Friday Concert 5/1/26 - Tim & Sara King

The last First Friday Concert of the 2025-26 season at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1000 Michigan Ave., La Porte, will be May 1, at 12:10 p.m.

Performers will be singers Tim King, former executive director of La Porte County Symphony Orchestra, and his daughter, Sara. They will be accompanied by Jeff Otto. The program is "Disney and Friends."

Tim King's last job in Louisville was director of performing arts for the Jefferson County Public School system which has 110,000 students. He created the first public elementary performing arts school in Kentucky, as well as a performing arts middle school to compliment the already successful performing arts high school in the system.

He is a native of Kentucky with degrees from Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Louisville. His singing career includes more than 175 appearances with orchestras from Buffalo, NY, Columbus, OH, Las Vegas, NV and Santa Barbara, CA.
Sara is a musical theatre graduate of Otterbein University and is a former U.S. Presidential Arts Scholar. She began her musical theatre career at the age of four weeks playing the role of the baby in the musical “Baby” for a six-week run. Since then, she has amassed more than 150 professional theatrical productions with venues throughout the Midwest and East Coast.

In addition, Sara has performed on many occasions with her father, including several appearances including with The Louisville Orchestra, Chattanooga Symphony, Orchestra Kentucky and the North Charleston Pops Orchestra. Theatre critics have praised her for her vocal and acting ability as well as her stage presence. Her range of roles include the title role in “Mary Poppins” and Marian in “The Music Man,” to portraying the witch in “Into the Woods” and the role of Paulette in “Legally Blond."

St. Paul's is handicap-accessible through the Harrison Street entrance and is air-conditioned. The audience is encouraged to bring their lunch for the half-hour program. There is no charge, but there is a free-will offering box to sustain the concerts.


The 2026-27 series will open Friday, Sept. 4.

First Friday Concert 3/6/26 - Cathy Hofer & Susie Ricther

The First Friday Concert at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1000 Michigan Ave., La Porte, March 6, at 12:10 p.m., will feature Cathy Hofer and Susie Richter, accompanied by Garfield Sallman. The program is "Give My Regards," with selections from Broadway.

Hofer is retired as a vocal music teacher of 38 years, 32 of them at Westville schools, She has been in numerous shows at La Porte Little Theatre, been a soloist with the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra several times and sings with the Power Train at First United Methodist church

Richter has been member of St. Paul's Choir for 27 years, performed and directed at La Porte Little Theatre, is a member of The Singing Company of La Porte and has performed at Footlight Players in Michigan City,

Sallman, a graduate of the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, has been a frequent visitor to St. Paul’s, where his parents were members. Currently living in Des Plaines, IL, he is the Compensation Manager for Lawson Products, Inc. His love of music led him to performing in the Oakton Six Piano Ensemble for more than 20 years and now finds him singing in the Park Ridge Chorale.

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring their lunch to the half-hour performance. There is no charge, but there is a free-will offering box to support the series. The church is handicap-accessible from the Harrison Street entrance.
